1 million is 1000 times 1000, or 10 3 × 10 3 = 10 6 , no matter where you live, but the definition of 1 billion depends on where you are in the world.

 

 

 

In the USA, 1 billion is 1000 times 1 million, or, 10 3 × 10 6 = 10 9, but in France and Great Britain, 1 billion is 1 million times 1 million, or 106 × 106 = 1012
